Dan hated everything about Phil. His form, the obnoxious green flamboyance of his boxing gloves. The way his eyes got dark in the ring, the flecks of green and light of his constant smile fading to a deep blue.How at the semifinals when chris broke his nose and knocked out a tooth he laughed like a madman, giggling, wiping his bloodstained fingertips down his neck, joking how it was like a lion mane.
Phil was intrigued by everything about Dan. The way he stumbled over his feet when he tried to bounce and lunge at the same time, the rusted red of his worn down gloves. The way his nose scrunched up when he drew blood, that awful sadistic look he got in his eyes when he swung.

So when Phil was assigned as his mentor he almost threw up into his sweat rag.
