"Younger kids sell more papes. People here in New York take pity on young-ones." he explained. He then changed the subject. "You gonna be selling today, Chris, eh?"
"No-"
"Yeah, she is," Jack butted in. He then turned to the man at the counter. "A hundred papes, please."
"Jack! I don't know how to sell." I told him. Why couldn't he listen?
"Then," he lifted the papers off the counter and rested them on top of his shoulder. "I'm gonna teach you."

Christina, or better known as Chris, is an orphan living in the harsh city of New York. On a regular day while playing with her best friend Crutchie, she runs into a mysterious boy named Jack Kelly. When she joins the newsie group with Jack, everything is different than Chris could've ever imagined.

Winter. A time of year the newsboys of New York City wish they skip over. It got cold- real cold. Newsies all over would start showing signs of sickness within the first weeks of winter. Not as many people are out on the streets, which means not as many people are there to buy papes. Money gets scarce and it's not like any of them can afford a winter coat. Wintertime is chaotic enough as it is, but when you're a newsboy trying to juggle a forbidden relationship, the death of many friends, and the return of a psychotic family member? Yeah, things can get a little... destructive. Story length: 27,730 ------------------------------ THERE IS A BREAKDOWN OF THE MOVIE VS MUSICAL AT THE VERY END WHERE I JUST DISSECT THE MOVIE AND WHATNOT. IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ME WHETHER OR NOT YOU READ IT, I JUST WANTED TO PUT IT OUT THERE. DISCLAIMERS: - These characters are not mine, they all belong to Disney (excluding a couple little side characters here and there) - The word 'queer' is used frequently towards the end. While I am fully aware that it is not always used as a slur, I just couldn't bring myself to have one of the boys say the 'f' word. (You know the one) - This is going to be a mix of the 1992 Newsies and the Broadway Newsies, so I apologize in advance if you get a little confused. I just can't decide which is better, but for some characters I can only see them as the 1992 version or the broadway version. - Main difference: The relationship is going to be Jack and Katherine, meaning that neither Sarah nor Denton exist. Sorry about that, but since they aren't the main focus of this story anyways, hopefully you won't change your mind about reading this purely on that. - I made the cover using pictures off of the internet so credit to Google ImagesTerminé

"Race, what's goin' on? Where 'ave ya been?" Crutchie asked, eyeing the boy with worry. Race ignored him and continued limping to the stairs. "Race, get back over here. Crutch and I stayed up waitin' for ya, the least you can do is tell us where youse been." "I'm fine," Race mumbled, not stopping. Jack quickly stepped forward and grabbed the younger boy's arm, not missing the way he tensed up. "C'mon Race, look at me. What's wrong?" Race slowly turned around, keeping his eyes down with the brim of his hat casting a shadow across his face. "I just had a run-in with a couple of guys who were lookin' for a fight. I got a little beat up. Really, it's nothin'." "It's not 'nothing' Race. You're walkin' worse than I do!" Crutchie exclaimed. Jack grabbed Race's chin and tipped it up and Crutchie gasped. Jack's eyes widened too as he and Crutchie got a glimpse of their brother's face. Crutchie's face turned red with anger, his hand clenching his crutch tightly. "Who did this to you?" *** It's a month after the strike, and everything is going great... until it's not. It starts with small arguments with newsies from the other boroughs, and only gets worse. None of the boys know whats going on, but they're trying to ignore it, until one day something happens that none of them can ignore. She's never seen him before but it was just the same thing for Jack and the gang Morris, though taller than his older brother who was later she realized was Oscar was only a year younger but the toughest which was word on the street from the other Newsies. What started from paying for papes, to getting jumped in an alleyway, to a surprisingly decent date, turned into a surprising but hidden friendship from friends and family which later sparks into something even greater.Terminé
