Grace is an anorexic teenager who suffers every single day. The thing is, most of what she suffers from isn't the anorexia, it's the voices. Grace finds solace and comfort in her best friend, Jane, the only one who listens. But can Lucas convince her it's all just a figment of her imagination? And when an unknown demon demands she give herself up, or her family get taken, will she choose sacrifice or betrayal? Is it the end of a horrible nightmare for Grace- or only just the beginning of a dream?

Lucas is a boy trapped in his own thoughts, trapped in a world of loneliness. His ADHD makes it hard to concentrate, and his creative mind offers him only a temporary escape. At school, he is the target of bullies. At home, no one seems to really see him. Even his psychologist-who is paid to help-doesn't seem to understand the depth of his pain. But there is more to Lucas than anyone suspects. What begins as small acts of rebellion-lying, stealing-slowly evolves into something much darker. His anger and loneliness take on increasingly grotesque forms. He has no way out, except the destructive power he discovers within himself. Each time he strikes, he leaves a message behind: "Alone." A word the world doesn't understand until it's too late. As the line between art and horror blurs, Lucas loses his grip on reality. His masterpieces become violent, gruesome, and irreversible. Eventually, there is only one way left. But can he escape the echo of his own despair, or will loneliness swallow him up forever?
