Charlotte Deroux and her great grandmother, Nanny Vi, or officially known as Violet Deroux have been the best of friends for all her life. Nanny Vi spoke of stories from her lavish life in New Orleans and of Hurricane Katrina which forced her to flee from Louisiana and take refuge in Texas. After Nanny Vi's death, Charlotte receives letters from the late Nanny Vi. She sends Charlotte to Louisiana in order to tell her final story. Along the way Charlotte finds adventure, love, and the life altering secret Violet Deroux had been keeping.
