How do you cope with the loss of a mother and raising your seven year old brother basically alone while being abused by someone who once claimed to love you?

Carter Jones is a seventeen year old senior who's taking on the role of a mother and punching bag. She's trying to make it one more year in the abusive house of Joseph her step dad   She won't tell authorities about the abuse because she can't risk losing her brother. She works part time at a diner and takes all advanced classes on top of raising her baby brother.  Saving all the money she can to get out after high school and take Jake with her. 

Carter will go through many obstacles but they aren't enough to keep her from doing what's best for her brother Jake.
