Much to her surprise and reluctance, she is separated from her mother and transported to Penntrion, an academy meant for training young boys into elite guardians for the Destiny Code.
Forced to conceal her gender, Sentinel begins her new life alongside five other children - all of whom possess unusual pasts and, often, dark secrets.
As she eventually adjusts to her situation and learns to cope with Penntrion's harsh regulations, Sentinel slowly starts to suspect that she herself may well be closely related to the threat that hangs over humanity.
