If I did not do it like this, the exposition that would be required to understand my characters would be annoying for me to write and readers to read. and note: the genre I picked for this is "romance" despite not technically having romance because it does follow some romance tropes (namely mutual pining) and none of the other Wattpad genres fit the story at all.
