What was she getting herself into? Just as she finished writing, a sudden gust of wind blew through the room, extinguishing the lights. Emily gasped, her heart racing. What was happening? And then, a low, smooth voice spoke out of the darkness: "Hey, darling... why are you up so late?"

(I lost the end of my original text so I'll have to re-invent it...) Some of the dialogues are from Jane Austen's novel and/or Jon Jones's film adaptation but most of the text is a retelling (and departure from the original) in my own words.
