Slender

Not daring to look back, I ran through the still, threatening darkness of the forest. I knew he was behind me; his glare was palpable on my back like an icy breeze sending shivers down my spine. What I didn’t know was where he was. My heart raced with the fear of the pursuit. As my weak torchlight picked out the pale outlines of trees in the distance, like ghosts in the night, my terror ridden mind could only focus on two imperatives; keep running and never look back.
