"Promise you guys won't ever leave?" Railey asked, looking at her two bestfriends in kindergarten. "I promise." Madeline spoke up. "Promise to the moon." Bren said.
"Promise you'll never leave me?" Johnnie asked his two bestfriends in their Freshman year of high school. "I promise." M spoke, softly. "I promise to the moon." Bren said.
"Promise you'll never forget me?" Johnnie choked out, looking at her two bestfriends for what seemed like the last time. "I promise." M whispered. "I promise to the moon and back." Bren cried out.
"Promise we won't get killed or caught?" M asked, looking at their two bestfriends. "Promise!!!" Johnnie exclaimed. "Promise to the booty." Bren said.
"Promise we'll stay together?" Johnnie asked worriedly. "I promise." M said sincerely. "Promise to the moon." Bren said.
"Promise me you'll stay with us. Promise me Johnnie!" Bren yelled, tears blurring her vision. M stood there silently, and Johnnie lay in the hospital bed trying to wake up.
"Promise... Can you promise me this Johnnie? Can you promise that you won't ever do that again." Bren whispered. Johnnie quizically looked at her, "I can't promise anything. But I can try;." Johnnie said. M left the room, silently and unnoticed.
