“It's a soulless place. The people around here have no color. The buildings are grey, the people are grey, the town is grey." Nadiya spoke fluently, the dark words slipping off her tongue without a hint of remorse. She took a sip of her coffee, staring at the table for a second before lifting her head to look into his eyes.

"I feel dark sometimes," he began. "Sometimes I feel like I could fly away with no one noticing. Not the people in Italy or Africa, but the people here."

She stood up to wipe away his stray tear, caressing his face in between her palms.

"You're the splash of color on my canvass."
