-Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future. Content Warning: This fic contains blood, gore, cannibalism, a suicide attempt, mild body horror, and language. If you are sensitive to any of those things I suggest not reading. Mur'ring walked to the back of the cell and moved a cement block from the wall. He pulled out a bottle of clear liquid. "I was saving this for a special occasion, but given the situation I guess-" "Will you shut the fuck up and help him?!" Mur'ring poured the liquid on the wound. Ra'dok yelled. A guard smacked the door. "Shut the hell up in there!" Mur'ring wrapped some cloth around the wound and Ra'dok stopped bleeding. He let Ra'dok take a few sips of the liquid, which made him gag but sedated him. After a while we all fell asleep. I know it looks like this story is about Japan but it's not. The Lands of the Rising Sun are referring to the East Coast of the United States of America. Set in a post apocalyptic world. Ma'tuk, Ra'dok and Mur'ring are three slaves that share a cell and work in the mining fields. They discover a secret and set in motion a series of events to jailbreak the slaves. The story is told in two parts. The second part follows a team of bounty hunters that find a valuable man and must nurse him back to health. In order to see a doctor they must embark on a mission to gain access to the doctor. This wonderful adventure is very graphic and explores aspects of the mind in terms of spirituality, the human condition and the fate of man.
