Experience heart-pounding romance and suspense, odds-defying adventure, and deep emotion, all in the space of a few minutes with these short stories ranging from 300 - 2000 words.
    Including:

THE DAY THE HUMA BIRD TOUCHED HER SHADOW: The Huma bird is an ancient mythological creature from Persia. Legend has it that the Huma contains both male and female halves, and that wherever its shadow falls it brings great joy and peace. But what happens when the world stops believing in the Huma? When half of it is torn away? When she remains alone--and one day falls to Earth, a human?

THE DEEP LILAC SEA: Former Lieutenant Commander Lira Stavros served faithfully in the Queensguard--until the day she didn't. Now she's disgraced, demoted, and floating in the middle of a supposedly dead alien ocean for some much-needed rest time. But when a scientifically impossible storm rises, things get deadly fast.

LOVE ON THE PLANET PEGGY: Aminah is a lonely government office worker stationed on Peggy. On a whim, she signs up for a pairing service that promises to find your "One True Match." Hers isn't in the system - until radiation hits the web and "OTMs" are popping up everywhere. Corim seems perfect, but when he and Aminah finally meet, a surprise is in store.

BREAK OF DAY: As the spring equinox swings into being and the sun crests the horizon, two young women, separated by 2000 years and a vast cultural gulf, are drawn to the same stone circle in England. As the mist rises, boundaries blur and the lines between adult and child, ancient and modern, hope and despair, become muddied.

Uncapitalized titles are 300 word one shots, and the title is the prompt that came from TypeTrigger.com. Capitalized entries are either my own imagination entirely or contest entries :)

She's dead by the third chapter. Okay, it's a bit more complicated than that. Okay, it's A LOT more complicated than that. Renata wants nothing more than to pay her bills through her mildly boring office job and figure out whether she is still in love with her best friend. The latter half of that desire is just a sneak peak into her messy life-and it's only getting messier. Considering the paranormal world she is about to dive head first into, she will come to realize that figuring out her heart may just be the easiest part of this journey. Well, the endless supply of supernatural hotness in this story may beg to differ-but that's besides the point. Either way, it's gonna be a killer time ;) EXCERPT Chicken tacos it is. Right as Renata grabbed the ingredients, she turned to put them next to the stove, where a clean, plastic cutting board awaited. But as she moved, she was confronted by a stranger, an intruder, standing mere inches from her. Before she could scream, he was on her, slamming her against the fridge. Her back flashed with sharp pain. Her eyes pricked with fear as she drank in his uncovered face. Deeply tanned skin. Ruby red eyes-ruby red eyes? Thick, slashing eyebrows. Flat, broad nose. Buzzcut. Handsome. That was as far as she would go in complimenting him considering this guy held a knife to her throat. When he spoke, his voice came out like thunder. It held a thousand threats and a thousand secrets. It held promise of pain if provoked. "If you scream," he warned, mouth pulled in a slight snarl, "this ends quickly." She didn't dare nod against the blade. He noticed and amusement lit up for just a second in those devilish eyes. Oh, whoever the fuck this was, she already hated him. Considering her predicament, panic was the most prominent emotion coursing through her at the moment. "Good." He removed his hand "Now you're going to answer my questions." °°MATURE AND EXPLICIT CONTENT OF ALL KINDS, AND I MEAN ALL KINDS°

The aliens came here for one thing, and one thing only.... Females. ( This story is only available through inkitt or galatea!!!) (some read events may apply) (check update chapter for more details!) Humans believed they were the only intelligent life to exist... that it was impossible for another species to evolve in a way where they could prevail in something as great as space travel. humans believed they were supposed to be the most technologically advanced species and the alpha predators... They were wrong. The Xandisians evolved in ways humans never could have imagined, they are natural-born killers with phenomenal strength and agility. Their kind never went through the same devolution as humans, they never lost their natural instincts to hunt, kill, or breed. With their limitless potential and monstrous strength, they faced few threats and could survive almost any threat that befall their species, almost. After an incurable sickness washes over the planet of xanadis, the majority of the female, young and elderly, and vulnerable population is all but wiped out, leaving a small portion of the male population to face the threat of extinction. With no choice but to look to the stars for a means to save their kind from complete annihilation, the xandisians set out to find a race compatible with their own. after many years and countless failed expeditions, they finally find a species that matches their base DNA on a planet called Earth. The only issue now is how humans will react. (Book 2 LTF series) (CAN be read as a stand alone, but not recommended for nostalgia reasons~) (ps this is UNEDITED, grammar and spelling mistakes will ensue!) (NOTE: THIS IS ITS OWN STORY NOT A CONTINUATION. SAME CHARACTERS BUT DIFFERENT PLOT.)(Last to fall au/spin-off)

Embrace the mystery, discover more. "I would sacrifice pieces of my flesh and still be considered selfish for not giving my bones." I spit at the annoyingly handsome man in front of me, he runs both his hands over his face into his light brown hair narrowly missing the small horns that curl out of his head before looking up at me in disappointment. "Would it be your choice whether the skin is taken off of you.. or your lowlife fathers who I saved you from?" He snickers, rage rolling off of me in waves as he smirks up at me knowing he has hit a weak spot. This man may have saved me but it is time for me to save myself and this kingdom. An infant was left by the bank of the river for the floods predicted for the following night to wash her away. Until a beautiful woman taking an evening stroll heard her cries and found her all bundled up in a black blanket and when she opened her big beautiful purple eyes the woman gasped in shock. Knowing she had found something special she took the babe and ran home to her loving husband. He immediately fell in love with the child, naming her Penelope, both watching as the child grew happily but never taking her out of the premises so no one would question them about her eyes. Until Penelopes sixteenth birthday everything was perfect, that day her mother fell ill and passed within the next fortnight after her heart couldn't handle the sickness anymore. The last thing she told her husband was, "Protect her from them, for they will come for her." Penelope heard his cries of despair ringing throughout the house almost muffled by her own, for she knew she wouldn't be able to go to her funeral, visit her grave, or even talk to her mothers friends to remember her in spirit. Months that passed turned into years and Penelopes father grew mean and cold, he tried to hold back till his breaking point reached and that would be the night where her world was turned completely upside down.

February 1993 • Milan, Italy ᥫ᭡ Marisa is a young woman with lots of ambitions, lots of dreams, lots of curly, raven hair... and a fairly decent job in the publication industry, too. She's travelling to France for work, hopeful that a much deserved promotion may as well turn her life around and pull her out of her poor, judgmental hometown once and for all ... but little does she know that her life will be turned around by a fortunate meeting with an irresistibly charming, mysterious, foreign man at the airport in Milan, instead. She'll find him right when she's not even sure she can find herself at all... and when she's not sure she can find her boarding gate to begin with, either. All clumsiness circa boarding gates and travel items aside, they may not be on the same page, and oftentimes they won't be, being almost total strangers and all ... but their random meetup will still, inevitably leave a mark in both of them. To the point in which they won't be able to stay away from the other one for any longer than five minutes. Looking for the other one and lowkey hoping not to get caught redhanded doing that, because it just wouldn't be their style. Will it be a random fascination, will it be love, will it be just a flirt and that's it, or she will just end up being yet another woman in yet another port for him? Or, even worse... will he just end up looking like yet another one of those guys who are all smoke and no fire, to her eyes? Judging a book by its cover, Marisa would never bet a penny on him. But will he do what she's far too adamant to do herself ? Get aboard, sit down, and fasten your seatbelts. No pun intended. We're about to find it out. St. MMXXIV.X.VIII

The story of Adrianna. Best to read in order as each book follows the story of a different woman but with characters crossing as well as following a specific timeline of events. *** My mind tries to come back to reality but the only thing that I'm able to think right now is that even through the little time that I have came to know her, I can see fucking red flashing light surrounding her that warns me of the danger that she is, but I'm not pretty sure if I will be following these warnings as I never met someone like her, and I know that my curiosity will take the best of me. She is confident and so damn attractive. She is solitary but also chatty and full of mischief. She is a foxy woman, flirty and perfectly beautiful. She is a fucking damn wild fox... *** "You think I'm a defenseless little woman?" She keeps telling me, her voice low while her face is getting closer and I automatically bend my head in her direction but no words making their way out of my mouth, still too stunt by current events. Then I feel her hands descending my torso, questioning myself when did she actually removed her elbow and became so close that I could feel her breath on me. "This is all your fault, you are the one driving me to do crazy things, Foxy." I tell her, wrapping my big hands around her tiny waist, unable to hold my frantic hands as I need it, her own touch burning me, and her simple presence has me eating on the palm of her hand. "Well you should stay away then, my love." She says to me with her tempting voice, while getting so much closer that I feel the heat of her body on mine, and I observe as she wraps both of her hands in my black curls and pulls slightly, the movement extracts a wolfy groan from me as I look into her eyes that are crazy with desire, surely the same as mine right now. *** This story contains sexual and abusive scenes, as well as mature subjects. 18+

Heather has lived her entire life believing her mother is crazy. She doesn't believe the stories that were told to her as a child, the stories about men descending from the sky to take her. She rejects the false narratives and tries to help her mother the best she can even if that means constantly moving and preparing for the men to come back. She doesn't envision a life beyond this, never expected to leave her mother until she is forced to in the most unexpected way. When the men from the sky take her instead. *** It was a short debate but enough to push me over the edge. Pher was right. I was making this too difficult. I should just do it. I had been fighting myself on this for too long. I didn't care what he was, I wanted this. I stared at his lips as he spoke, my own tingling in response. "I could show you that if you wanted. Most of the other things you can do are outside of the esta-" I pushed up on my toes and crashed my mouth to his. My actions were unexpected and rushed. I could tell by his reaction. He reared back but not enough to separate us. His hand flashing to my arm to still us and then he froze. I thought for a second, based on his lack of response, I had picked the wrong time. Or maybe he had changed his mind from two days ago. I went to pull away, flushing lightly with embarrassment. I didn't get to disconnect our lips before he unfroze and reacted. His grip tightened, his other one going to my hair to hold my head in place as he kissed me back with more intent than I even had started with. My body flushed for a different reason now.
