It happened years ago.
The accident, that is.
The year is 2045 and humanity as it was 30 years ago, no longer exists.
After the accident, everything changed.
The new energy plant was supposed to be the future. A lifetime supply of energy for everyone. Forever.
But then the accident happened.
Millions died.
The days after were pure misery. But then people began to change.
Some were granted powers of sorts, gifts of God. Our saviours. Our heroes.
Others simply...changed.
Some people called it the work of God, a miracle. Others called it evolution.
I, on the other hand, have a very different theory.
No one was granted powers, there were no "heroes".
There were no "villains".
We were all just abnormal mutations as the result of a freak accident. Monsters.
And I perhaps, was the worst of them.

Aliens have been here before... one was left behind. Eighteen-year- old Zoe must find him and she doesn't have much time. Along with the alien, a beacon was left on Earth which when activated, opens a portal through which the aliens will return. The extraterrestrials visit Earth to usurp Qi, Earth's vital energy. If the extraterrestrials go too long without Qi, people on the alien planet will die. However, when Qi is extracted from Earth, the weak and elderly of Earth will die. The beacon can only be activated by the alien who was left here and only when the planets are in a particular alignment. The next time is only two months away during the Autumnal Equinox. When Zoe discovers who the alien is, it's a complete game changer because the alien is closer to her than she ever could have imagined. The story takes place in a small town surrounded by forest near the Oregon-California border. Of course it does, after all, the highest concentration of Qi is found in forests where ancient redwoods grow. You might be wondering, what is Qi? In Japan it is called "ki," and in India, "prana"." The ancient Egyptians referred to it as "ka," and the ancient Greeks as "pneuma." In Africa, it's known as "ashe" and in Hawaii as "mana." I stand outside my home broken and shattered, who I am I don't know. I'm not like wonder woman, supergirl or catwoman. The only similarity we share is that we all have an extraordinary ability and are females. Many people would say having superpowers was a gift from god and the best thing that could ever happen to you. But not for me, being able to freeze time was more of a burden, because I couldn't control it and it had the worst timing to appear.
