"I'm sorry" he said, avoiding eye contact with me.

"Why?" I asked.

"For everything. I left you when you needed me" he said, still avoiding the eye contact.

"It's okay" I said shrugging.

"I didn't mean what I said. I do want you to be part of my life" he said looking at me with his deep blue eyes. The moon shinned on his skin, making him look gorgeous.

I felt a tear streaming down my face. I remember when he said it.

"And I don't care if you don't want me to be part of your life. I won't leave you" he added then. He placed his finger on my chin and moved my face up, forcing me to look at him.

"What have you done to me?" I replied asking him.

His face hovered over mine, much closer than I was used to. His gaze didn't leave mine as he spoke. "It would have been different if I had told him from the start. You wanted me to lie for you. You started this. If we tell him what really happened, he would be pissed at me for lying to him." "Stormie, you got a phone call!" Mason yelled up the stairs. The closeness between Avery and me started to make my legs feel like Jell-O, and I couldn't make sense of it. Our breathing became heavier. His eyes trapped mine. "Answer him," Avery murmured. "Uh," I stammered. I cleared my throat. "Be down in a minute!" My voice came out higher than usual. My gaze still couldn't escape Avery's. My heart raced wildly as his chest rose and fell against mine. Avery's gaze flickered to my lips. What's happening? My gaze fell to his mouth, which was moving closer to mine. I fell for a boy with the kindest blue eyes, and a charming dimple. He made me feel loved, and cared for, and most importantly he made me feel safe in his presence. He came right in the middle of a tornadoe and managed to turn it into blue skies. He changed my perspective and gave me hope and strength." I looked at him, and he was smiling, and his eyes were a little glossy. He took my hand and kissed it, a small tear caught in the corner of his beautiful eyes. "I thought, hey, maybe life isn't so bad after all. Maybe I can finally allow myself to love and be loved, and to live life normally. When we went to your party, you told me to wait for you. And maybe, just maybe, JD is drowning her in more than just love. ~ ~ ~ PREVIEW: His eyes narrowed at my upward turned lips, and I quickly tried to mask it with a frown. It was too late though. His clasp on my chin tightened, so hard I almost jerked away. "Do you find this funny, Katie?" I tried to say "no," but my lungs were so deflated and his grip on my chin was so tight that I think all that came out was a moan or mumble. His eyes, positioned right in front of me, were like two mesmerizing whirlpools, sucking me in. In a resolute, velvety voice, he said, "Good." Then, he snapped my entire head to the side with just a flick of his wrist so he had easier access to press his lips against my ear. Tightening his grip even more firmly around my chin, his other hand came up to wrap around my clavicle, his long, strong fingers creating cavities near the nape of my neck. "Because the next time you refer to yourself as boring or plain or average," he growled. "I won't be so forgiving." ~ ~ ~ ***TRIGGER WARNING*** This book contains overall themes and specific scenes of abuse and assault. Please read at your own risk.
