Windspeak—the ability to speak with thoughts instead of words, with people as well as animals—has been all but eradicated from the Kingdom of Amon. After a dragon attacks the Crown Prince during the Summer Tournament and the King and Queen are kidnapped, can Kait use what she has repressed for so long to save her family, her kingdom—and herself?

This is the second iteration of the story that began as The Swamp Monster in 2011 (read the inspiration for the story here: http://benhamatake.com/blog/writing/the-story-of-the-swamp-monster/). Lots of feedback, research and self-reflection have led to a much more solid narrative in this second version, I hope. Thanks to everyone for your help this far.
This is the first part of Book 1. I'm still working on part two, which I will post here in serial until finished.

I usually don't write romance, but I want to get better at it, so here we go... About updates, I wish I could say I will be posting at least once a day but I know that won't be true because I'm currently editing my book that I am publishing this summer (2020) and this story is more of just a de-stressor (is that a word) so the grammar and writing, especially the tense (it will most likely flip between present and past tense, just pretend it is all the same) might not be perfect, but I just felt like writing it. One sacred piece of advice is known: avoid humans at all costs.
