Sixteen year old Maya Oaks has been through so much, the world's greatest psychiatrist wouldn't be able to figure her out. After losing her mom and dad in a car crash that should've killed her too she must find a way to stay on track. But that's kind of hard when you and your brother are being shipped halfway across the United States to live with your crazy aunt.

On top of all of this, she has to endure Jamie Lynn, the son of her next door neighbors. Jamie's closed off demeanor makes it difficult to really know him, all she knows is he's strangely protective of her. He won't let any other guys near her, yells at anyone who dares to make fun of her, and wipes away her tears.

Feelings soon start to blossom and Maya finds herself falling deeper and deeper for Jamie, but is he who she thinks he is?
