This is 20 years after Maxon and America became queen. With the caste system finally abolished 7 years ago, the public has been granted with the right to choose their job in their own free will. Prince Ahren, the firstborn and heir of the throne, is having a Selection to find his wife and have his shot of a love like his parents'.
Gabrielle "Gabbie" Plothe is a newly 18 year old and college freshman to Brown Universty, an Ivy League school in the Hundson Province, halfway across the country. She's studying to become an astronomer, her dream job since she was 8 years old. When she finds about the Selection, she enters just for the fun of it. Never did she expect her, a part-time waitress, a college freshie, a night owl, to be Selected.
But, she won't let that stop her from her dream job. She starts her studies at the palace, and she won't let anything stop her.
