Gray strives to make a living as an artist, but can't afford his own apartment in bustling New York City, so when he finds an add for cheap room in a large apartment, he eagerly grabs the opportunity, even though he'll have to share a home with the landlord and her teenage daughter, Alice.

Alice is an innocent girl, with brown curly hair and heterochromia iridis (a genetic mutation, making one eye blue and the other brown) is very annoyed to find out she's losing her en suite bed and bath to a man invited in off the streets.

But when Gray meets Alice he discovers she's not as innocent as she pretends to be.
