When Consuela Espinoza discovers that she will be cross-examining the man who deserted her twenty-five years ago in Uruguay at the height of the Falklands War, she is torn between her well-honed professional ethics and a visceral desire for revenge. While she struggles with her primeval urge to punish Lt. Col. Christopher Martin (The Parachute Regiment (UK)) on the witness stand, what was supposed to be a routine libel suit explodes into a courtroom drama of international proportions when she discovers that her client's brother, code named 'the Inquisitor', was the leader of an intelligence unit responsible for multiple brutal human rights violations in the Americas, Iraq, Iran, Bosnia and other countries in the Middle East. As the focus shifts to identifying the Inquisitor and his employers, Consuela is devastated to discover that her family has been directly involved in assisting several dictatorships in Central and South America. To further add to the combustible mix, she discovers that Christopher was the leader of the British Army’s TISIPHONE unit assigned to tracking and eliminating these war criminals. Had he used her to assist his investigation in the Americas? The question remains unanswered when she realizes that she and her children are threatened by the ensuing maelstrom of international intrigue that has invaded the Manhattan courtroom. In desperation, Consuela turns to the only man who can possibly help her to protect her family—Lt. Col. Chris Martin. But can she trust him this time? Scarcity

By 2057, Earth will be a shadow of its former self. Decades of unbridled consumption and climate negligence have left the earth almost desolate. Water, oil, and lush land are relics of the past, valued more than money. All nations have collapsed under the weight of famine, disease, and internal upheaval, leaving only two superpowers: the United States and Russia. They were once reluctant allies but now find themselves embroiled in a deadly, global fight for the planet's few remaining resources. While the population fights to survive in enormous urban wastelands, both regimes use advanced technologies and covert tactics in a desperate push for absolute dominion. During the pandemonium, 17-year-old Caleb Morrow, a scrappy survivor from the ruins of Canada, is conscripted into the US military. Meanwhile, on the other side, Elena Morozova, an 18-year-old Russian conscript hailing from the ruins of Norway, ascends the ranks in the Russian military. As this conflict between the 2 last countries left spirals out of control, the past suddenly begins to rise from the ashes leaving questions to arise in the thoughts of many soldiers on both sides including Caleb and Elena that, if answered, reveals a dark and unsettling truth. Scarcity is a story of curiosity, critical thinking, corruption, and trust in a collapsing world.
