Princess Nirin Rollage and the entire city of Confiorde are celebrating her 21st birthday. Her brother, Prince Elinduur, surprises her in the early morning hours, before there is a feast held by her mother, Queen Esabeth, in Nirin's honor. The day goes by wonderfully, all according to plan. However, that night, while everyone is resting, things go terribly awry. Nirin, Elinduur, and Confiorde's garrison must defend themselves and the city against their greatest foe.
