Emery Mitchel lived, breathed, cried, and bled music. That's all she really had to hold on to. Growing up, she felt like she was living a lie, never being able to fit in especially with her family. Then again, she never wanted to. As she grew older, her saving grace became My Chemical Romance, a band her parents loathed. Her life has been spent pretending and performing, always having to please her vindictive parents and "friends". And she's tired of it, tired of the loneliness and tired of the pain. She's always had dreams, of people calling after her, asking her to remember. And all her life she's been trying to remember. Remember what? Or..who? Only her favorite band, My Chemical Romance, can help her remember. And find out who she really is. But can they get to her before it's too late?

Ever since Keeley left for college (which is eight hours away from Katrina's home), Katrina has felt lost, confused, lonely, and sad, not knowing what to do at all with no one to turn to. About five months after Keeley left, at a doctor's visit, Katrina discovers that she has been diagnosed with depression. Although this disappoints her, it is not surprising... For the next couple of years, her parents have become worse and worse towards her, mentally abusing her because of the music she likes, the way she dresses, and her normal personality. This worsens her depression, and being ignored and lonely doesn't help. This is all until she meets Sam Browman, a kid in school who is a lot like her: dresses "emo," listens to "emo" bands, sings and plays a lot of instruments, and goes through troubles at home. Who knows what may happen to these kids who connect through both having troubles at home? This story is set in the year 2011, when My Chemical Romance was together (before the breakup and reunion).
