When Aletha Cithron was a child, Thei Brughar ruled the world.
When Aletha was twelve, Dennison Vestwick spearheaded the Great Rebellion against the Brughar Dynasty, claimed the throne from the evil king, and was deemed the 'People's King' by the citizens of Celesian. Everyone hoped he would be the start of a harmonious reign.
Now that Aletha is sixteen, times are no longer peaceful. Ruling is not easy for the King anymore, and his patience is wearing dangerously thin. A menacing hooded vigilante is prowling the lands, and no one is equipped to stop him--not even the captain of the King's Watch. Strange occurrences are transpiring throughout the kingdom and the mysterious boy she fed and gave a home may be at the center of all of it. But, in the heart of Celosian, dark and sinister forces nobody has seen in thousands of years are stirring, and they have come to claim their home back.
After a horrific tragedy befalls her, Aletha is forced to embark on the task of finding out what--or who--these magical and powerful creatures want, but something terrifying is waiting for her in the unknown.
