Mermaids have always had the ability to be human AND mermaid. Mermen on the other hand, have never had that power. If you were born as a human but have a mermaid/merman parent, your parents choose they way you would live. As a mermaid/merman or as a human. Ellie Swan was born a human and had a twin brother named Ryan. Ryan Swan was born a merman, along with his mother being a mermaid. Ellie was a human just like her father. When the twins turned 16, Ryan and the twin's mother went to the ocean and never came back. The only thing the mother left her sweet, beautiful, kind daughter was granting her with the most amazing power ever. To be a mermaid. Ryan requested for his sister to have this ability so they may find each other one day. When she transformed, she was given every power in the book, except for one. The power to heal herself. Her mother wanted her to learn to use her other powers to protect herself so she would never need to heal herself. Everything went sort of smooth after her mother and Ryan had left until she found out her father was a merman. Everything turned upside down and she even moved out of her home to a beach house. She lived a normal-ish life until she met this boy...

Mermaids are real, and unlike humans they have powers. Every mermaid is matched with an element when they are born, its not there choice but the worlds in a way, you see the mermaids tail color tells them their element and powers some are more powerful with it and other's not so much to useless. Green tails mean their element is Nature and earth, orange and yellow is light, purple is shadows, pink is wind and then there is blue for water and red for fire. But, when a princess is born with a tail holding 5 out of 6 of the elemental colors and starts getting hunted at the age of one. There was only one thing the king could do to keep his precious babygirl safe and that's what he had done. Amelia Light was adopted at the age of one. Knowing the truth she feel's that these people are her real family even if they aren't by blood. Living a normal life with a loving family and an annoying older brother, Amelia never expected her life to change in the way it did. She had grown up to love the water, she could always hold her breath for a long time and the people around her would always be filled with shock and bewilderment but, to her it was normal. At the age of 5 Amilea could hold her breath for a minute but as she gotten older it changed when she was 10 she could hold it for 5 minutes easy! Now that she is turning 16 soon she can hold it for almost and I mean almost 10 minutes. She had loved everything about it but the summer after she turned 15 some.. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers. Philip's bodyguard begins to catch on that Muriel is different and Percy and the king quickly become desperate to find her. My own version of "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen.
