Mermaids have always had the ability to be human AND mermaid.  Mermen on the other hand, have never had that power.  If you were born as a human but have a mermaid/merman parent, your parents choose they way you would live. As a mermaid/merman or as a human.  Ellie Swan was born a human and had a twin brother named Ryan.  Ryan Swan was born a merman, along with his mother being a mermaid.  Ellie was a human just like her father. When the twins turned 16, Ryan and the twin's mother went to the ocean and never came back. The only thing the mother left her sweet, beautiful, kind daughter was granting her with the most amazing power ever.  To be a mermaid.  Ryan requested for his sister to have this ability so they may find each other one day.  When she transformed, she was given every power in the book, except for one.  The power to heal herself. Her mother wanted her to learn to use her other powers to protect herself so she would never need to heal herself.  Everything went sort of smooth after her mother and Ryan had left until she found out her father was a merman.  Everything turned upside down and she even moved out of her home to a beach house.  She lived a normal-ish life until she met this boy...All Rights Reserved

A swim gone wrong causes my twin sister to begin to fear the water. She barely even touches it. I went missing when it happened, everyone thinks I drowned, and died. I did drown, or rather I started to, but then a bright light shown down on me during a full moon and turned me into a mermaid, one drop and 10 secs later a tail. I love it! I've always wanted to be a mermaid, our little sister was barely just born, I didn't know how to face my family, so I guess I just have lived in the ocean. I have all the girls powers, this was no accident, this is fate. This is amazing!

Then in his eyes I saw my reflection. And in that reflection I saw something. I saw my vampire fangs slowly turing back into my regular teeth. Then Jorge and I used our witch and wizard powers to make to body disappear.

Mermaids are real, and unlike humans they have powers. Every mermaid is matched with an element when they are born, its not there choice but the worlds in a way, you see the mermaids tail color tells them their element and powers some are more powerful with it and other's not so much to useless. Green tails mean their element is Nature and earth, orange and yellow is light, purple is shadows, pink is wind and then there is blue for water and red for fire. But, when a princess is born with a tail holding 5 out of 6 of the elemental colors and starts getting hunted at the age of one. There was only one thing the king could do to keep his precious babygirl safe and that's what he had done. Amelia Light was adopted at the age of one. Knowing the truth she feel's that these people are her real family even if they aren't by blood. Living a normal life with a loving family and an annoying older brother, Amelia never expected her life to change in the way it did. She had grown up to love the water, she could always hold her breath for a long time and the people around her would always be filled with shock and bewilderment but, to her it was normal. At the age of 5 Amilea could hold her breath for a minute but as she gotten older it changed when she was 10 she could hold it for 5 minutes easy! Now that she is turning 16 soon she can hold it for almost and I mean almost 10 minutes. She had loved everything about it but the summer after she turned 15 some.. Difficulties happen and Amelia discovers she has a tail! A hard secret to keep, and lots of difficulties on the road ahead, will Amelia be able to get all the answer's she is looking for? And what will she do now? Can she really live the best of both worlds? Or will she have to choose? How will she even find were to get her answer's too? Will the mermaids and mermen be freaked out by her tail? Will they know about the princess or have no idea? All will be answered as we read about Amelia's journey in Cast Away.
