The Cynic

He called me at 7 to meet me
I was happy
very happy.
But he didn't show up
He couldn't
He was killed
SHE got him killed.

" Morning will" , i rushed downstairs ,grabbing my Pochette.
"Morning, Lisa."
My friend Lea had invited me for breakfast . Will is my god father. Thin, frail, contemplative, intellectual, and a fatalistic thirty-nine-year-old , my dad's only trustworthy friend.

"I'll be back in an hour", I told him. he nodded .
I took my car keys and drove to her house . We talked about each other while making waffles . The thing is Lea is a new friend of mine. She shifted to Hawaii just a few weeks ago . We talked normally about her life in Austin and then suddenly she asked about my parents.
"I don't know"
"What do you mean by that? ", she asked
"I said I don't know"
" Are you like an orphan?", she asked me . I don't like her directness . I don't like direct people
"Yes", I lied
"That's lucky"
"Maybe". I didn't bother to ask why. Just started having the waffle I made . " So , why did you want to be friends with me? "
She hesitated a bit before answering me .
"Because you look real friendly". She isn't a good liar.
"Oh", i said
"So since we are friends, can you like help me a bit? ", she asked me in a fragile tone . i knew she wanted me to do something for her. Well this is what people want anyways . This is the only reason why people talk to me.
"Can i go home ? I feel sick", I asked her very politely
"You are rude", is all she said. Rather , its all she COULD say.
And then I went to meet him . But I was too late.

SHE POINTED AT THE DOLLS, BUT HER GAZE WAS FIXED ON THE PRETTIEST ONE. THAT'S WHEN SHE KNEW, WHEN THE LAST BULLET HIT HIM, HE WASN'T THINKING ABOUT HER.
