Ashley gets a phone call one day from a social worker saying he has 4 kids and he needs to either accept custody or allow them to be put in the foster care system. so deciding on going to get a DNA test in Oregon (where the children live) he doesn't expect to return home with 4 kids. the children are from one of his ex girlfriends who he dated in high school and over the years. she however never told him that she had his kids but when she dies suddenly, he has to take custody of his children.
