Autumn always knew she was named after the wrong season.

She lives for the summer months, desperate for a "perfect summer" like the one she's read about in books.

Her chances aren't looking good. Tired of the same people, places, jobs, and boys, she resigns herself to her boring life.

And then she meets Jake.

Autumn and her friends make a plan for the perfect summer, one of friendship and first love.

But if Autumn gets her head out of the clouds long enough, can she see what's really in front of her?

The day Aurora Matthews met Trey Arlington, just happened to be the day when she lost her summer job. She began to wonder why he always seemed to be around when she needed cheering up, especially when things were getting her down. She had never received much attention from boys at her school, known mostly as Nerd Bird had scared most of them off, so his friendly smile surprised her. As the summer weeks passed, a friendship bloomed between them that slowly changed into something deeper. Aurora felt a special bond form between them, which she hoped would continue even when school began again. The long days of summer ended with Trey destined to attend his private school, while Aurora stayed behind in her idyllic beach setting. When the return of school also heralds her elder sister's return, Aurora feels stunned. It seemed that her senior high school year might prove more challenging than she had ever thought possible, especially when a guy looking a lot like Trey appeared. Life it seemed was full of complications beyond her normal homework and study. She could only wonder if she was ready for the change.
