It was raining again.

This was no ordinary rainstorm. Glass fell from the sky in hot, thick drops. Lightning crashed, leaving craters in their wakes. Toxic clouds of glass particles filled the air.

Teyla Challis is caught outside in a glass storm, and she's running out of time.

This is the old and un-revised version of the story. If you want to read my final draft that I polished up for publication, look for "A Sea of Glass and Fire (Final Draft)". The essence of the story is the same, but the buildup, payoff, and everything in between is much better in the final. You can, of course, read both and see a little into how I improve my work.

"The world around her swam with mottled light. How long had she been fighting?" So...in sixth grade we took this computer-skills class. Our final test was to write a short story in Microsoft Word. My story ended up fleshing out into the trilogy I am working on and planning to publish at somepoint in my life, but I realized how incredible my writing skill has improved between just the two or three years.
