Human beings are known for inventing things that they had never really needed. Or, to be more specific, that they believed they needed until they actually invented it, which was the exact moment when they saw they didn't. Sometimes, the new invention just keeps existing, and so do us. But there are these rare, particular occasions in which things go a little bit wrong and the invention just can't keep existing. And there are these rarer, even more particular occasions in which things go abnormally wrong and the invention keeps existing, but we run the risk of irremediably ceasing to exist. ~~~ My entry for the 19th challenge of the SciFriday Contest! Hope you like it :D

Your parents left you, stranded in a parking lot. You waited by that ice cream shoppe for hours, asking strangers if they knew when your parents were going to come back, and get you. Some ignored you, some just replied with a simple "I don't know," then kept walking. Nobody bothered to help you, and you were scared, hungry, and lonely as the sun started to set, the air became colder, and people became scarce. It just so happens, that a certain robot came across your path.
