A young adult novel I'm currently working on.
About a working-class geek from Liverpool being sent off to a fancy mixed boarding school after winning an academic scholarship and attempting to fit in in an environment in which everyone is judged on their wealth and status and where people with backgrounds like hers are often frowned upon. Could an unlikely friendship help her become accepted within the community and even help rid her of her personal demons?

An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As the Empire Began to Fall
Being neurodivergent, maybe, kind-of queer (she doesn't know yet), and adopted without a single other girl in her house, fifteen year old Star has enough problems on her plate. Being in high school is hard enough, but when she starts displaying freakishly supernatural strength, it gets a lot worse. Then, right at the epitome of a prevailing identity crisis, shit hits the fan, and Star's country is invaded by a violent, weirdly religious nation called Callila, who seems particularly hellbent on taking over the entire continent for their god. Star and her friends are dragged out of their safe, loving world by their ankles and thrust into one full of deceit, barely concealed sexism and homophobia, and superiority complexes rooted in classism. Star learns that she has an alleged relation to a long dead court noble she couldn't care less about and meets Arlen, an enigmatic, if slightly annoying, prince who seems hellbent on protecting her from the true evilness that lurks around her while helping her hone her new found strength, which is slowly but steadily creeping out of control. But as time continues to pass and tensions grow higher, Star hears whispers about a growing rebellion that could dissolve the current monarchy and bring her back home. She decides to help, along with her friends, and begins to realize that being young does not exclude her from the horrors of war, and she is faced with the fact that even if she is able to return home, nothing-not even her-will ever be the same. *Basically, a YA novel with teenagers being teenagers, more gay, more diversity, a lot more swearing, and darker humor. Something I'm writing for fun. Give it a shot if you so wish.

On the eve of her first working day, about herself she mainly knows the goals, to emerge, and the flaws: geek and hard worker, rigid and perfectionist, angry and proud, short-sighted and naive, poor but not selfish, anything but stupid, indulgent with others, too severe with herself. So everything goes wrong, except one thing, maybe two. That first day she meets a boy who seems perfect for her, desiring her, the synthesis of all her dreams, a mix of joy and possibility, even malice and cunning, even the distraction she's afraid of. What to do? Someone under the same roof helps her to understand her best, the one it's time to give light, thus exploring also his dark personality, as deep and passionate. Will she make to focus what she wants more? Sense or sensibility, love or fun, light or darkness, charming prince or black angel? And at work? Hey there guys! I am not done brainstorming ideas yet, I will be posting only the first few chapters and see how it goes, maybe I can be able to squeeze in a few more ideas besides the ones I already got for this story. Anyways, this is not a supernatural story, completely ordinary. Like arguing, friendships, relationships, work, college, future, love, family ordinary story. _________________________ CEO of a famous medical company and one of the 'Big 5' in New York. Psychiatrist Rebecca Forde is loved by all who meets her since she seems to be doing her job opposite of what she has learned in college, knowing how to defeat lower self-esteem and discouragement. Having everyone turn their backs on her and being left alone in this world will she be able to get through it sane ? _________________________ Guys I suck at descriptions, I know, it doesn't attract you to the story but I tried... And just so you guys know, this story doesn't have that much 'mature scenes', maybe a line here or there but not an entire paragraph or chapter... Hopefully you'll like it xDokončeno
