Chad and Brun Jordan are on holiday in a sleepy seaside town when they find the Symphonion, an ancient music box which seems to be able to play even without any song disks. The Song of the Symphonion can turn summer into winter, wake giants from the earth, call ancient gods and monsters to life. Now Chad and Brun find themselves living out a terrifying pact made between Freya, leader of the Valkyries and Hel, Goddess of the Underworld. A pact made for the soul of Baldur, warrior-god, condemned to hell by the woman he loved. But as icebergs fill the bay and an army of the dead invade the land of the living, is it Baldur or Chad who will die?The Symphonion must be silenced before the world is destroyed - but how?
