It has been four years since the government captured and imprisoned Amy Westgate after she massacred her family one moonlit night. She has grown up inside the secret laboratory known as The Music Box, where she has existed in two small rooms: a bedroom for when she's human and a steel pen for when she isn't. At the age of sixteen, knowing almost no other life, she is content in her insular world.

The team of researchers headed by cryptozoologist R.J. Blass have grown close after the attack on the facility that nearly killed them all. The Music Box is their world too and their old lives are just as forgotten as Amy's. But when the government orders an end to the project, loyalties will be tested and old wounds will resurface.

[Rated PG13 - NOT FOR ALL AUDIENCES - Contains coarse language, scenes of violence, and scenes of mild sexuality and drug use.]

They swung open the cage door, cattle prods at full power, humming with electricity. The man lazily lifted his hands in surrender. "Now, now." He said softly. His voice was like velvet. "No need. I'll do as you please." The man in the cage said, his eyes straying to her. "You know what it is we want beastling." The man with the pale eyes said. The caged man shot him a glance, something dancing just below the surface of his calm, relaxed demeanor. The air in the room was electric. The man locked eyes with her, sending a shiver through her whole body. She felt like a rabbit in the jaws of a wolf- struggling, but doomed. Then, his eyes still on hers, he began to change. --- When Theophania Pennrose arrives in Ilaross, a tiny town tucked away in the recesses of the Alaskan wilderness, she is under the impression that she's simply there to visit her dear younger brother Dimetreaus. But as her stay extends, the wildlife comes knocking at their door and paints warnings on the windows. She finds herself trapped in the eternal night of winter with the wolves circling, intent on making her theirs. But Theo's petals are unfurling, and the end result may be more beautiful and bloody than any of them imagined. --- Marked Mature for mature themes. As time passed, Alphas of the surrounding territories began fearing the potential threat that loomed in the darkness. Cassius, Alpha of the Lycans and the one in charge of keeping his people safe, had to watch as his entire world was burned to the ground by manic wolves who ripped through the members of his pack with no mercy. Only managing to save his younger brother, he vowed to get his revenge if it took the life he had left. I can hear nothing but the thudding of my heart beating wildly in my chest, the sounds of the sirens turning into white noise at the back of my mind. I back up until my spine connects with the elevator doors. I shiver as my bare arms come in contact with the cool metal. "Someone help me, please," I beg. The man stalks closer still. His eyes are fixed solely on me, unmoving, intense. His fists are clutched tightly against his sides, as though restraining himself in some way. Restraining himself from what, I don't want to know. The man stops only an arm's length away from me. I stare up at him with wide eyes, my lips parted in fear. I stand frozen, unable to move. I shut my eyes, turning my head away. Laboured breathing, the touch of fingertips on my bare shoulder, breath on my lips. A heavy, deep inhale. Slow exhale. A forehead against mine, shaky hands cupping the back of my neck, fingertips sliding into my red locks. My eyes open to meet the warmest pair of honey eyes. Cover by AnnaCharles16 #4 in ROMANCE?
