Darkness.  Pure darkness. The kind that leaves you wondering if your eyes are opened or closed.  This was something that would make you cringe with fear.  Darkness was your enemy.  You hated it, and you were pretty sure it hated you.  After all, why else would it be there if it didn’t know that it scared you?  It knew that you were afraid of it, and that you would cry out to your mother to turn on the lights when it was bedtime.  It knew that you couldn’t stand the feeling of being completely vulnerable to anything that was out there in the dark, just waiting to get you.All Rights Reserved
