The creature made no sound as it zoomed passed the middle aged man. He stood there, shocked. But only for a few mere seconds. He shook his head before trudging across the deserted beach once again.

A loud whirling sound was heard, when the creature whisked by for the second time. The scientist gaped and blinked. Then he blinked once more, fixing his lab coat, he took a shaky breath and continued walking on, this time in a more hurried fashion to the laboratory. He couldn't afford to be late.

He had continued at a fast walking pace for a few moments before the suspense got too unnerving. The scientist took off in a sprint; though, he couldn't go nearly as fast as he would have on solid ground.

It was less than a minute before he reached the door of the secured laboratory. He rushed to tap in the passcode on the small screen next to the thick iron door.

6 - 9 - 7 - 2 - 0...

Three loud beeps sounded before he could finish; an incorrect number. The man gulped nervously before trying again, more careful this time.

6 - 9 - 7 - 2 - 1...

A whooshing noise was heard, then a thud a millisecond later.

Dr. Elms looked up, his legs shaking, only to be met by a knife - a hunting knife - an inch in the metal door and a centimeter above the tips of his dark hair.

A voice sounded then.

"The fight's not over yet."

(18+ EXPLICIT CONTENT) "Attract a lot of attention, huh beautiful?" His voice hit me like a wall, absurdly catching me off guard. It was deep, sensual, something any girl (or boy) could melt over. I was sort of speechless, yet trying my best to appear unafflicted. "Only the wrong ones." That was definitely drunken me talking, as I didn't usually have that much confidence. His lips twitched up into a smirk, expressing that he understood my comment. "Does that mean that I'm in that category?" My palms began to grow sweaty and my heart rate picked up, but otherwise my body remained relaxed, appearing completely fine. It similar to when you're on autopilot, completely withdrawn due to intoxication. "I suppose not," I crossed my arms, putting on this seductive persona just for him. This fueled his smirk, about to murmur another comment before I cut him off. "You'll have to show me, though." *** Amelia Hollis was a 23-year-old writer at one of the local publishing companies, assisting a very handsome man and writing articles left and right. Her and her best friend, Aviary, lived together in a cute little apartment off the central part of the city, yearning to create new memories and important moments. Amelia always lived for the moments, taking in every little detail and savoring it like it was her favorite meal. She was an optimist, hoping to change peoples lives with her dreams. James Vallette was a 34-year-old CEO, building his company from dirt with the help of his brother. He was a realist, not really having time to deal with dreams or even love. He knew this the night he laid eyes on Amelia. It was only casual; what harm could a one-night stand do? Oh yeah, he's her dad's boss.

My dream continued the one I'd been having for the past couple of nights. I ran, gasping for breath, through the familiar woods from a dark figure behind me. The faster I tried to run, the slower I seemed to go, until it was like I was running in place. I knew I needed to run. I was terrified of what the figure would do when he caught me. "Mara Leigh," a deep, smooth voice called. It was almost hypnotic. That was new. The figure had never spoke before now. I ran as fast as I could go, eyes searching the forest floor for a big stick or something that I could use to defend myself. "Mara Leigh!" the voice came again, this time more insistent. The forest slowly started to fade and I started to awake to someone shaking my shoulders. "Beau?" I mumbled, turning my head to the side. What's Beau doing in my room this time of night? Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife. Then he grabbed both my hands in one of his and held them over my head. He held me down while I struggled. I grunted and moved and tried to kick and scream, but I only wore myself out. Exhausted, I stopped thrashing and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried to prepare myself for whatever was coming.

Pushing off the sink in irritation, I turn to leave but he grabs my bare upper arm. My blood boils in annoyance while my skin tingles with excitement. He perks a brow, obviously sensing it. "Your aura is in disarray," he states bleakly. "Yeah, no shit Sherlock." My Earthly phrase earns me a tilt of his head and I scoff. "Where have you been, Beta?" "On a mission in the Xin Galaxy." "Okay? Would it not be wise to inform your OA of any missions that require your departure? Let go." I pull against his grip and he reluctantly lets go. "Yes, however, this mission did not require your presence nor your opinion," he replies candidly. My eye twitches and wordlessly, I turn away once more but his grip on my arm returns, this time more gentle, as if pleading rather than restraining. "I only meant that this mission did not require you to accompany me as my OA in pretence. It's safer to stay with your younglings out of sight anytime the role is not needed," his voice softer. "You disappeared after you..." I pause and shake my head. I feel embarrassed to say it out loud to him. I feel embarrassed at how much it affected me. "After I kissed you," he finishes for me, the silence following the words adds to the thickness growing in the air. _____ Wrongly accused of being a rebel conspiring against supernatural beings, whom she never thought existed outside of her world of anime fiction, a nightmare plagued Lyla becomes a wanted fugitive. she and her two young children are forced into hiding in a foreign yet beautiful world thousands of galaxies away from Earth to escape her death sentence. Hunter and I had known each other since we were children, the best of childhood friends that grew to more the older we got, he was my first kiss, my first orgasm, and I had even lost my virginity to him, we had had the same interests and the book of secrets was our thing, we had tried everything to find clues, I had thought he was my soul mate, but as i stood in our apartment, aghast!, as my jaw hit the floor when he'd said "he was sick and tired of looking for it and wasting his time with me to do it", i kept thinking this isn't him , it cant be, he's my soul mate and then my stomach dropped like a rock when he said. "I think we should go our separate ways, make a clean break, I've been thinking about it for a while now, I've got a job for a dig in Africa, and I am going to take it". Wow!, was all I could think, its like I meant nothing to him, 2 things happened to me at once, 1st I would make him pay for what he did to me , and 2nd id find the book myself and rub it in his stupid face. "Fine , go, see if I care", I said and I ran to the bedroom stuffed clothes into my overnight bag, passport and some money id stashed and headed for the door, I didn't even realise he was still here, until I almost ran straight into him. "Please we have to talk" he said "NO hunter, we don't" and I rushed for the door and ran for the elevator, once inside I heard footsteps running down the hall. "WAIT" he yelled "WAIT" WAIT"WAIT. Wait my arse, I said to myself, he rounded the corner, concern etched across his face, as the doors to the elevator slammed shut.
