I was young, a good girl who lived her life mostly to impress her parents. We lived in a small town named Nelsville, on the outskirts of a big city named Nelspruit. Our town was full of the coloured population; most kids were damaged goods there. They smoked pipe, weed and had house parties every weekend while still in high school. However not all of them were damaged, some had dreams to full fill. I guess I was one of those good ones, until I met him. My name is Zoe Jackson and this is my story.

By day, Zoe is your average High school girl. She has cool friends and okay grades... Hand her a volleyball, and her spike will scare boys off... Which she's okay with. Boys are drama and she's not allowed drama. She's not allowed much but that's all she knows... As soon as school is over, Zoe goes back to her old wooden house. That house everybody knows of but nobody's ever been to. They all know who Zoe's father is. They also know Charlie. Not that Zoe's ever mentioned either of them, she never talks about her home life. Never has, never will. But what happens when her two worlds collide and the ugly truth is revealed? Can she really allow herself to live normally when she knows HE is hiding somewhere? And where the heck is Charlie?!

For their entire lives, Claire and Sydney have only known the tiny world they live in: a small, picturesque town populated by children and teens like themselves, and caregivers, a man or woman assigned to each child to cater to basic needs and make sure their child doesn't leave the town. However, both girls have always been curious about life outside the town. Strange happenings begin to occur, phenomena that no one in the town have seen, and with these, the caregivers become more oppressive. Claire and Sydney decide their only option is escape, but what they will find will turn their lives upside down.
