All the earth is torn asunder. There used to be grass, and the sun used to be golden. Children played outside, climbing trees with smiles on their faces and grass stains on their knees. People worried about a million things that would soon be irrelevant, continuing without a clue of the disaster to come. Centuries later, what little is left of humanity survives in a society constructed beneath the surface of a glass dome, the world outside converted to little more than a desert wasteland. Survival is a routine rather than an effort, and all rules are surpassed by only one: if you want to survive, you never leave the dome. There's nothing alive out there. In the 2020s, many biotechnology companies existed all over the world and were helping to advance mechanical augmentations, making them commonplace in society but was still controversial. One such company, Sarif Industries, which had been founded in 2007 and had quickly grown to become one of the major biotech companies by 2027. By 2027, Multinational biotech corporations specializing in human enhancement are competing for dominance in what has become a controversial field. Many engage in wars against each other, employing thieves, moles, and hackers to steal their competitor's ideas. To protect it's research, Sarif Industries has recently developed it's own internal security force. Enter Adam Jensen, the newly appointed head of Security of Sarif. Salamander
Taking place in the midst of the War of Cybernetics, the young and feeble Alan finds himself in a grim situation. A situation that causes him to leave his hometown with a group of the King's army known as The Collectors - people whose soul purpose is to collect kids in each town of the Kingdom to draft them into the war. That is when Alan realizes the full extent of the tactics that are being used in the war. Tactics that involve taking over a person's will and transforming them into monsters, enlightened to the point of madness. Their transformation is based off of the gas in which they had inhaled, and they are classified into four categories: Witches, Enlightened, Giants, and Grazers. With the help of a scientist who takes the bodies of dead individuals and turns them into robotic soldiers, Alan must convince the newly-appointed Emperor to revoke the Collection Process in favor of said robots.
