"Ten minutes until the ferry leaves!" The overly peppy voice woke Stephan from his nap. Groggy, he lifted his head from an older lady's shoulder, whose tight brown bun was streaked with gray, and pulled back so tight, that her wrinkles were practically non-existent. Her eyes were a crisp brown, like the color of fresh mud, and as long as Stephan looked, they never blinked. Stephan realized with a start that he'd never seen this woman in his life. In fact, he'd never seen any of these people.
He was seated in a hospital waiting room, smelling strongly of alcohol and rotting flesh.
Odd
"Miss, may you please tell me where I am?" Stephan asked.
The woman looked straight forward, posture straighter than a wooden plank. Her thin white lips barely moved when she said, "The waiting area."
She stood and walked in the automatic doors to Stephan's front. She left quietly and disturbed no one else in the waiting room, leaving it as quiet as it was before.
