"Please Alex, you don't have to do this." Niall whispered into my hair, begging me to stay. I looked up at him, then kisses his soft warm lips one last time. "It's okay, we just weren't meant to be together." I choked. "I hope you find somebody who loves you more than I ever could." His eyes saddened, and he gripped my face, smashing our lips together in a demanding kiss. He pulled away, looked at me sadly, then turned, and walked away.

She giggled a little as she looked over at the older couple. "That's going to be us one day." "Yeah?" She rested her head on my shoulder, giving me a quick kiss on my neck before nestling in. I scooted her closer to me with my free hand, resting my hand on her leg. I looked at the older couple for a minute. They were sitting quite close to each other, holding each other's hand, deep in their own world. It was obvious theirs was a love that had deep roots; a love that still made them feel young. The last time she had seen him, he had just a slight tuft of blonde but his hair had grown out enough to cut it and now it was all back to his natural color. Having always hated the blonde, she found herself more attracted to him; more aroused. He didn't look like a kid anymore. He looked like a man.... He sat down before taking the drink she had ordered for him. She watched his throat as he swallowed the burning liquid. The bob of his Adam's apple made her almost bite her bottom lip at how hot it was. He never winced when he drank any hard liquor, which made him all the more attractive to her. He could take a drink the way she took him.... She laced an arm around his neck, running her hand through his hair and twirling a strand around her finger before tugging on it a little. She leaned in and began placing kisses along his neck. She felt him shudder a little at the sudden contact. Feeling the goosebumps forming along his skin, she bit at the spot along his jawline that was one of his sensitive spots. She felt him as he placed his hand on her leg and drag it up her thigh. She bit at him again as his grip on her tightened. She was so close to him that she heard his breath catch and falter in his throat... She could feel his breath on her neck and she let a shudder move up her spine. She felt him smile against her skin, pleased that he had this effect on her... I didn't know what spooked him. I knew it wasn't me. I knew it wasn't anything I had done. But someone, somewhere along the way had hurt him. I had my guess as to who, but didn't know how I could find out for sure. But whatever it was clearly left its mark; an unseen scar that was still healing. We laid there in the quiet of the darkness. His breathing slowly began to steady and his fingers slowly ceased running down my arm. At some point, I knew he had fallen asleep. I tilted my head back up towards his face, finding his cheek, kissing him. "I don't know what made you so afraid," I whispered, "But I can see the shadow behind your face. Who hurt you? Who put your heart through so much pain? I hope you find a way to tell me what you're running from. I promise you can talk to me; you can trust me. I won't break you. I just want to know how to get in there. How do I get you to show me your heart?" I kissed him once more before resting my head down again. Closing my eyes, I inhaled deeply, loving the way his natural scent mixed with the cologne he had put on. "I promise, you've got the best of me. I look into the blue eyes of my best friend and it feels like staring down a stranger. They are familiar and foreign all in the same moment, glossy and pleading. The dimly lit street allows only enough light to cast glimmers on our faces and subtle shadows on the ground. It's raining but I've hardly noticed; all I see is him. "Megan please don't go," he says desperately. "I-I'm sorry." A tear falls steadily down my cheek. I don't want to go but I have to be strong for myself. I run forward and wrap my arms around him in a hug. "I love you Niall," I say near his ear, "I just don't like the person you've become." I hold back a sob, "When my best friend comes back tell him to find me." I don't say another word I just go, leaving him all alone in the dark street...Terminé
