When sixteen year old Madison Kearney makes the decision to move across the country to attend the arts academy of her dreams, she has no idea that she'll learn a lot more than how to improve her voice.
So when a seemingly friendly girl wants nothing more than to make Madison disappear out of the academy, she realises that life at the academy is not always filled with fairies and butterflies.
By the end of it all, she comes to the conclusion that the best way to learn how to face the tolls that come with attending one of the most prestigious schools in the country is to gain help from:
1. A spotlight dependent violinist who doesn't seem to know what the word 'modest' means
2. An oblivious trumpeter who often takes trips to la-la land
And 3. An icing despising guitarist who persists he has a secret genie.
And she learns that some surprises are better than others.

Another school year has begun, which means The Arts: Academy for Creative Performance and Design has a new freshman class. A typical class roster includes kids from all over the state, but a stunning number of new students know each other from the same hometown. There's Andi, the shy songwriter who would give anything for her favorite band to use her work; Kiara, a talented artist from a broken home; Robbie, Tyler, and Matt - former band mates turned bitter enemies; and Ivan, an aspiring filmmaker with a penchant for crude humor. Imagine if there was a school that was only spoken about through whispered rumours. A school that didn't focus on testing or homework to prove the intelligence of its students, but instead focused on imagination and creativity. The R.J. Academy of Inspired Arts has been using this way of thinking for years, inviting the most promising children to live within its walls and learn from professionals. Students will usually graduate with their futures secure. Simon Brokenbell is a completely average thirteen year old boy. There's nothing about him that really stands out to people, or at least that's his opinion. He's a victim of bullying, having moved from school to school for years until there were no schools left. But he still has one hope; The R.J. Academy of Inspired Arts. He's practically desperate to get his hands on the five year scholarship that's offered. He's too boring though. {Complete} Throw in two best friends, a home-schooled newbie, a curly-haired boy, a jokester, a walking encyclopedia, an odd classmate, a diva, a complainer, a very eccentric teacher, and a couple other students and what do you get? A very dysfunctional high school orchestra. Based on a true story and told between two friends, this orchestra can't get along, but issues aside, they can play wonderfully together. After all, enemies can't make music with each other, or can they? ~~~~~ This was written thanks to my best friend at the time inspiring me to put my crazy tale of a year down on paper. A majority of this did actually occur during my school year. Sadly, Orchestra programs are disappearing from schools but we won the right to keep ours and get more funding.
