A weather-beaten sign just outside the city limits reads, Port Nocturne: A Notch Above. I'm not sure a notch above what, but I do know the city is a place where each night seems to last forever, the sharp scent of gunpowder lingers in the air like cheap perfume, every black alley comes to a dead end, and justice is not all its cracked up to be. Still, the place is my home. It's where I work. And it's where I'll probably die, too, when my number's up. My name is John Sparrow, a former beat cop turned detective turned private eye who's seen his fair share of everything the city has to offer, for better or for worse. With a 30-year career in law enforcement and finding that which doesn't want to be found I guess you can say I've seen it all. Well, that is, until she walked into my office...

Good Girls Don't Die is a serialized novel in the vein of classic supernatural detective stories like those found in "Cast A Deadly Spell," "Witch Hunt," and "Bloodshadows." It's a story where gangsters in expensive suits are master sorcerers, spirits get the third degree from beat cops, zombies come packed six too a crate just line bon-bons, and your landlady is a licensed witch.

John Sparrow is a former New York City cop and wounded Spanish Civil War veteran turned Port Nocturne private eye. While he lives in a world where magic permeates throughout, he himself has no affinity for it and always remains skeptical toward those who do practice, especially when the Dark Arts are involved. But when Scarlett Dresdner calls on him from the grave to help find her killer, Detective Sparrow as no choice but to get involved in a world that doesn't appreciate his talents.
