We go back to silently watching the clouds. I must have dozed off a bit because I woke to Ed cradling me like a baby and I was more than happy to stay pressed up against his chest, listening to his heart beat. "Ed," I admired his chiseled features. He was so beautiful, so tanned, so god-like, so perfect. "Yes, Sweetheart?" His eyes were spilling over with more love than I could hold in my two arms. "Don't forget me when I'm gone." I whispered. I had to watch as he cried again. Pain twisted up his face into an agonized expression. It was my turn to be strong. I brushed my thumb across his cheek, wiping away the salty tears. He held his hand over mine, keeping my hand on his beautiful face. "Lainie... I've met an angel. I've held an angel... that's not something I could ever forget."

The music plays, and I can't look away from her. She opens her eyes. Her right hand slowly running down her shoulder. She begins to sing. "Put your hand on my shoulder. Never let me go". Her voice. Her voice is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. So soft. So powerful. I have finally seen an angel. The year is 1944. Tears rush down to my cheeks and splatter on the wood floor of Danny's university apartment. He has an imprint on his face from the creases in his pillow and keeps blinking and rubbing his eyes. I sit on the edge of his bed and his hand rests on my knee. He's crouched in front of me in a pair of basketball shorts. "I don't know why I did it." I hiccup. "I should've just said no!" I take a shaky breath, my chest moving erratically. "And t-they all saw me freak out!" Danny's fingertips skate up and down my thigh and he doesn't say anything. "I mean, who wants to be with somebody like me? I can't even handle a sip! Y-you should just go and find somebody who can handle herself! You deserve better than me!" "Don't say that." He murmurs, raising my hand to his lips. He kisses each one of my knuckles with love and care, and then he looks up at me and smiles softly. "I choose you. No matter what the circumstance, no matter who comes along, I pick you. I'm here for you and I'm here with you. I'm fighting for you and I'm fighting with you. I love you. I don't care if you have to stay up all night to cry. I'll stay up with you. There is nothing you can do to make me love you any less, and there is nothing you can do to make me leave. I'm here, right here, forever." "Leo pinned me against the wall with his hips; his hands gently gripping my wrists, keeping my arms above my head against the cool brick behind me. His beautiful, hazy blue eyes -that had turned straight quicksilver, again- were filled with such an intense, carnal desire I couldn't even look into them, so I looked over his shoulder. I saw a small group of kids from the group standing out by their cars who would easily be able to see what we were doing...or at least what Leo was doing to me. At that moment, my mind started wandering to all the things that I could be doing to him right now...but I stopped that train of thought, immediately, as it started heading to all the wrong places... All the dirty places... All of those places involving a very hard part of my body... I glanced back at Leo; his gaze was still as intense as it was before (unfortunately). He smirked at me and said confidently, "You can't ignore me forever, Ethan. You're eventually gonna fall for my charms..." Ethan Carter was focused on 2 things. 1. School (obviously) and 2. Getting over ex (it's proving to be, harder than he thought), but now he has to add dying to that list, and suddenly having feelings for a boy (which has happened once before, but Ethan tries to forget it). Leo Malone makes Ethan feel things he's never felt for another guy. Leo's sweet, patient, and understanding, the only problem is, he's a guy. Ethan tries to ignore the fact that his heart flutters every time he sees Leo, or that he can't ever stop thinking about him; but if having cancer has taught him one thing, it's that, "You have to live in the present, as you may not have a future."

UNEDITED! Will edit soon :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "What's going to happen?" I uttered, knowing he probably didn't hear me. "What do you mean? Happen to what?" he asked, running his hand through my hair and caressing my cheek sweetly. "To us?" I asked, feeling scared about the way he was going to respond. "What's going to happen?" I repeated my question but this time my voice gave away how worried I was. A single tear dropped onto Evan's palm and suddenly he had swept me up into his arms. I instinctively curled into a ball and hugged him tight, pressing my cheek against his chest and listening to his heart. "Nothing's going to happen Maria. I promise. I love you, so much. Don't worry," he pleaded rocking us back and forth slightly. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ruined this moment," was all I could say as silent tears made their way down my cheeks and onto his shirt. "Shhh, it's alright. I don't know how it will all work out, but we will be together, forever. I promise," he assured me, pressing a kiss to my temple. I sniffled and wiped my eyes as I looked up at Evan. He was watching me with concerned, loving eyes and for some unknown reason that look only made me start crying again. This time however I was happy. I was crying with joy because I knew I had someone who I could rely on; someone who would never leave me, someone who would be by my side forever, someone who would stay, stay with me and stay for me, someone who would stay true to me and stay forever in my heart. ~~~~~~~ Maria and Evan meet quite unexpectedly and form a relationship that is stronger than either of them could imagine. They share countless sweet moments throughout the summer, but when it comes down to it, Evan's home is 1,007 miles away from Maria. What happens at the end of the summer? Will Evan stay?
