We go back to silently watching the clouds. I must have dozed off a bit because I woke to Ed cradling me like a baby and I was more than happy to stay pressed up against his chest, listening to his heart beat. "Ed," I admired his chiseled features. He was so beautiful, so tanned, so god-like, so perfect. "Yes, Sweetheart?" His eyes were spilling over with more love than I could hold in my two arms. "Don't forget me when I'm gone." I whispered. I had to watch as he cried again. Pain twisted up his face into an agonized expression. It was my turn to be strong. I brushed my thumb across his cheek, wiping away the salty tears. He held his hand over mine, keeping my hand on his beautiful face. "Lainie... I've met an angel. I've held an angel... that's not something I could ever forget."

My Heaven

She is beautiful. Never in my life have I seen a woman so gorgeous. I stare at her like I'm in a trance. I must be, because it's impossible to look away. Her red lips. Her soft closed eyes. He long blonde hair. Her hips. Her hands in the red sparkly gloves. Her right arm straight in the air. Her left on her shoulder. Her left leg up against the wall. The music plays, and I can't look away from her. She opens her eyes. Her right hand slowly running down her shoulder. She begins to sing. "Put your hand on my shoulder. Never let me go". Her voice. Her voice is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. So soft. So powerful. I have finally seen an angel. The year is 1944. In the heat of World War II, amidst the grueling training and impending battles, Michael, James, and Steven find solace in the small joys of life. When they are moved to a quaint town for their final training, they encounter a world untouched by the horrors of war. Here, Michael is captivated by a beautiful singer whose voice is as mesmerizing as her presence. In a dimly lit nightclub, under the spell of her hauntingly beautiful songs, Michael's world is irrevocably changed. Despite the chaos that looms ahead, he finds himself drawn to her, his heart caught between duty and an unexpected, profound love. As their connection deepens, they must navigate the complexities of their emotions against the backdrop of a world at war. "My Heaven" is a poignant tale of love and longing, courage and camaraderie, where the power of the human spirit shines brightest in the darkest of times.
