In 1910, London, England, Violette Alderdice learns of her betrothal with a young rich man of high class, like her, named Harry Styles. The last thing Violette wants in life is marriage. Harry dreads this marriage as much as she does but goes along with the marriage due to the threats by his parents. When Violette meets her soon to be husband she avoids him as much as she can and attempts to stop the marriage multiple times. As their marriage grows closer Violette and Harry grow closer and Harry breaks the walls that Violette has built.
