This is a story of a man named "Joel Miller" and a girl named "Ellie". Together they protect and survive throughout the aftermath of a horrifying cordyceps fungi outbreak. Ellie however is somewhat immune to the fungi and is wanting to find a cure. A group called the "Fireflies" is willing to find a cure without the aid of the government. And Ellie is much obliged to go to their lab. Joel's mission is to 'smuggle' this girl to their lab and keeps her safe for them to find the cure.
