She walked through the dimly lit hallways, her fingers running across the imperfect walls. The echo of her soles meeting the concrete was unsettling, yet it was too late to retreat. At the end of the hall was a door slightly ajar, shadows pacing back and forth, the cacophony of voices increasing in volume. She had come for Orpheus, braving the underworld to save the man her heart belonged to. But as he came into view and their eyes locked, it was not the reunion she expected. His malice took on a form of its own, so thick that it almost suffocated her. She beckoned for him, clawing at the empty space between them, but he took a step back. And then another. Orpheus was entering the darkness, leaving her with shadows that whispered all around them in a tongue she could not understand. "Don't leave me here." She sobbed, walking towards him with trembling legs. "You are right where you belong." His voice cut through her like a knife, forcing her to her knees in despair. And before she knew it, two hands had wrapped themselves around her neck, cutting off her flow of oxygen. She gasped for air, confused, as she looked into Orpheus' eyes. "You are not Eurydice. You will never be her." Those were the last words he said before he disappeared, leaving her behind in the underworld. Copyright: ©demonator1d All Rights Reserved
