"All's fair in love and war, or some shit, right?" He said, his smirk drawing to a slight sneer as he padded towards the open balcony. He rested his hands on the guardrail before letting out an exasperated sigh, thunder rolling behind it. The rain cascaded onto the tile in sheets, blowing the soft cream curtains back and forth. "Or some shit." I smiled, walking towards him. I could see the tension grow in his back and shoulders, his struggle evident. I placed my hand gently on his shoulder, trying my best to reassure him. I could feel his breathing hitch slightly at my touch; his response was all I needed to reassure me I was doing the right thing. My touch was welcomed. I leaned my head on his back, wrapping my hands around his waist. I longed to take away his pain; I hated seeing anyone this upset. She wasn't worth his time. He said so himself- he's never found a woman worth changing plans for. Maybe he meant since her, I can't be sure. I am, however, hoping to show him that, one day, that woman might be me. ****** Jeanie is a spunky assistant living in Atlanta.
