Malia is the twin sister of Mal, as well as a Daughter of one out of numerous villains, Maleficent. 

She has a strong bond with her sister. Mal would risk her life for her sister if her life depended on it. Same goes for Malia towards Mal.

 Then, Malia and Mal, as well as their friends Evie (daughter of Evil Queen), Hallie (daughter of Captain Hook), Carlos (son of Cruella De Ville), and Jay (son of Jafar) get a chance by Prince Ben to live in Auradon, which Malia isn't happy about when she gets the news. 

When they arrive in Auradon, all Malia wants to do is get the Fairy Godmother's magic wand and bring it to her mother.

 But there's one thing that has Malia struggling a little....her feelings for Jafar's son, Jay.

What Malia doesn't realize is just because when evil runs in your blood, that doesn't mean you're not good at heart.

Once upon a time, in a kingdom known as Auradon, lived a young prince. He was one of the most kind and caring princes the kingdom ever had. He cared about everyone, even the ones no one thought were actually worth caring for. One day, the month before his coronation, he made his first proclamation. He wanted to give the children of the villains his father had abandoned to the isle of the lost, an equal chance in Auradon. And so he invited four villain kids to Auradon Prep. Mal, daughter of Maleficent; Jay, son of Jafar; Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; and Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen. Most people thought they would be just like their parents; evil, vicious and cruel. But Ben was convinced that even those who were raised to be villains had a good heart. And he wasn't wrong about that. It came with some struggles, but they found their place in Auradon too. After his coronation he decided that more kids had to come over, as the first four proved that they could live just like other Auradoniens in the kingdom, amongst the other citizens. He didn't really know them well personally, but only heard good stories about them and that was proof enough for him. Carlos is devastated in the isle knowing he DIDN'T steal the wand but his own friends never looked deeper into it and went by the fake "proof" they received by Chad and Mal has to make the painful Decision to send him back to the isle. Carlos is labeled a villain and monster from the people of Auradon, and a backstabber from the VKS and the Villains still on the isle. Carlos finally snapped after years of being tormented by Mal and Jay, pushed around by his mother, and now sent away and having his whole life being ripped from him for something he didn't do because Ben and Mal were incompetent when handling the situation, and follows the path both Audrey and Cassandra went down, and quite literally the same path Cass did because he breaks out of the isle and TAKES the Moonstone before Mal can put it safely in The Isle Can Mal, Evie, Jay, Ben and Fairy Godmother realize their horrible mistake in time and can Cassandra and Audrey try to talk him out of the path he's going knowing they been down that road before, or is Carlos and Auradon a lost cause.
