When It Rains

Living in a world where magic has long been replaced by metalwork and machines, Aprill Nanoway was just another girl in a large farming family. Budding with artistic potential, she only cared for art as she was the middle child between three perfect, older brothers and three prim and proper younger sisters. She felt estranged and unnecessary: an eyesore who couldn't do anything but draw.

The nation of Frisan demanded that the children of the farms attend school in the cities in order to receive education for metalworking and the odd jobs that built the nation. Aprill had no interest in those jobs and wasted two years in the slums of Druiad, a city near her hometown of Westrua, refusing to learn. However, her bleak existence is interrupted by the appearance of an odd man who only ever visits her on rainy days and who seems to possess long forgotten magic. She falls head over heals, but loving someone is hard for a girl convinced she has no future.
