The Greys are a militant, brutal, and thoroughly merciless Secret Police, working for an oppressive and equally unscrupulous government, who use their Secret Police to enforce cruel laws on minorities, squashing those they consider less than themselves beneath their boots.

The Revolutionaries are a fragmented, unpredictable, violent faction of change-makers, with a terrible penchant for fire and bombs - most of them, at least - working for nobody and nothing but what they deem to be the People's Best Interests.

They are quite decidedly at war, with a Revolutionary calling himself the Firebomber leading the Revolutionaries' bloody charges in fast paced, explosive, hostage-filled attacks, and a man named Baine leading the Greys, executing 'traitors' on the spot, and dragging his suspects off in the night for a 'questioning' from which nobody returns, guilty or otherwise.

- and Casamira is going to be caught in the midst of it all. Only 16, and cursed with freckles, she will find herself coming to know that neither side of this war are anything but human, and with this knowledge she will come to know that neither side could simply be called 'good' or 'bad' out of hand.

Casamira will find herself in a world of moral dubiousness, and quickly in a literal Grey Area.

And she will have to choose sides.

"What is your name?" I asked, staring into her doe-like eyes. Almost immediately her face twisted in horror. Her eyes switched back and forth frantically like an exit would suddenly appear out of thin air. The sides of her lips turned downward like it was taking everything in her not to burst into a sob. Sure, she was scared--that much was expected-- but I could see the anger. I could see she was furious with me. Interesting. I thought to myself. As much as I wanted to explore how far I could push her until she retaliated; time was of the essence right now. I was staring at an unrecognizable girl. A mistake like this will get a lot of people killed. "I asked you a fucking question, didn't I? I don't like repeating myself." I growled as I grabbed her small face in my hand, making her eye shut in pain. "Harley. Harley Anderson," she spat softly like an angered kitten. Harley. I let her name roll over my tongue for a while. Every second that passed made my vision go black with anger. I looked away from her face before releasing the hold I had on her. I felt my jaw clench in anger and my fist flex in readiness as I stared off in the distance, trying to control my anger from making me lash out. However, I couldn't control myself. She is the wrong girl. We have the wrong girl. ------------ Harley Anderson was an average girl with an almost too simple life before being taken by the biggest cartel in New Mexico right in front of her best friend, Avery. Xander Sanchez, the leader of the Riot cartel has nothing else on his agenda besides making his ex-business partner pay for his wrongdoings. What happens when Avery is the center of the operation, but it all goes wrong, and now Harley finds herself in a situation she never dreamed of? What happens when Harley is taken and forced to work under the boss? Will Harley be able to survive working under this ruthless man? What happens when the boss finds himself falling for the girl he least expected to capture his heart?

His voice was rough and low, his fingers flexing slightly against my flat stomach. "Um... I was..." Oh shit. The dream flooded back in, warming my body all over as my thighs pressed tightly together. I could feel just how wet I was. "I wasn't dreaming." "Bullshit, 𝘚𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦. Did you know that you talk in your sleep?" His breath was hot on my neck, my body reacting instinctively as my back arched and my ass pushed tighter against his hard cock. He groaned in response, his body going stiff. His hand released my hip, wrapping his arm around my body and pulling me even tighter against him, his face pushing into the crook of my neck. "You also say pussy in the most seductive way." "Oh, god." My hands flew up to my face, covering it as it flushed hotter. "The way your body moved and the sounds you made..." I gasped when I felt his hot tongue slide over my sensitive skin.

100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258!
