Adeline has no memory of what happened to her sister, yet she feels guilty whenever she thinks about her. The story begins on the 10th anniversary of Layla’s disappearance. The family is still very depressed; the family hasn’t been the same since the accident. But, the family did buy a mirror that was for sale at the freak show when the freak show was closing down.
