Layla is a girl who thinks writing an essay for her senior English class is a pain in the ass. Stuck with writers block and the pressure put on by her family Layla starts to feel an emptiness.
She has no idea what "regular" high schoolers do let alone high schoolers that are almost out of high school. She has never quite fit a certain ground and now everyone around Layla says that she's supposed to be having the greatest year of her life and she can't help but feel that something is missing.
An unexpected turn of events leaves Layla to go down a new path and winds up unexpectedly with a new group of friends that help show her a new perspective of life.
Along the way life gives a twist of things with her new friends her oldest and only friend tends to keep everyone on their toes.
Not to mention that essay that she so dreadfully didn't want to write. That gave her nightmares just thinking about it slowly turned into one of her most favorite moments of life so far.
While turning the essay of doom into something she could barely stop writing she realizes something that changes her life.
